Garden Chronicles

My mother keeps a small vegetable garden in the three balconies of our house. Its mostly like a playground where she experiments and plays around with soil, compost and green growing things. There hasnt been much produce but we have all been able to enjoy the fruits (and vegetables) of her labours...

Yellow capsicum from a plant that grew by chance from the seeds in the compost.

Tomatoes have a been a constant from the beginning, we have always had tomato plants growing in our little garden.

An abundance of mint. There, whenever we want pudina chutney or minty lemonade.

This one was quite tasty but it was also small, it didn't grow much bigger. I love the colour, its so pretty!

Many plants came and went, and many more continue to come and go as the garden keeps evolving and my mother keeps experimenting. I think it is a really nice thing when you are able to include in your food, veggies that you have grown yourself and got fresh from the plant just before cooking.

Bokeh Dance

Bokeh is defined as 'the blur, or the aesthetic quality of the blur, present in out-of-focus areas of a photograph'. 

I've always had a fascination for those soft circles of light in the background and the effect and mood they lend to a photo. 

I learnt that it is the aperture that helps determine what the bokeh will look like and chanced upon the right combination of camera settings for me while clicking these pictures of bamboo. I managed to get a crick in the neck as well, standing there with my head bent back for goodness knows how long. But I didn't mind, as I was happy with what I got for my trouble.
